Building Construction.1 Actual Elapsed Time: 17 minutes (1,000 seconds) The structure of a new library in San Francisco is being built. By speeding up the action 100 times, we can see how the structure is built - one steel girder at a time. First, the crane picks up a girder and swings it over to the other side of the building. Workers check the girder and then attach it to the growing structure. The process repeats itself, over and over until an entire floor of the building has been built. How This Clip Was Made: This time-lapse video was created by shooting 17 minutes of regular video. Only 1 of every 100 frames of video was digitized and transferred to a computer. When displayed, the remaining frames show the action at 100 times normal speed. Production: Brad Cochrane, Jonathan Kaplan. Post-Production: Jeff Fohl.
