A potter turns a lump of clay into a vase. By speeding up the action 100 times we can see the entire process of making a vase: building a solid base, hollowing out the middle, and smoothing the outside surface. At this speed, the potter's movements are a blur but we can see the results of her efforts.

How This Clip Was Made:

This time-lapse video was created by shooting 8 minutes of regular video. Only 1 of every 100 frames of video was digitized and transferred to a computer. When displayed, the remaining frames show the action at 100 times normal speed. Production: Brad Cochrane. Post-Production: Brennan Doyle.
