If you are taking pictures over a series of days and can't leave the camera in place, it will be difficult to place the camera in exactly the same position. Here are a few hints that will help you get as close as possible:
- Print out a copy of the first image and use it for comparison on subsequent images. Look for objects that are at the edge of the picture and use them to line up your shot.
- If you are outside, place several sticks into the ground to mark where you placed the tripod legs. If you are inside, use tape to mark the floor where the tripod legs go.
- Put tape on the tripod legs to mark how far the tripod legs are extended. This will ensure that the camera is at the same height.
- If possible, mark the position of the object you are recording.
Once you have determined all of these settings, write them down in your production journal. It may useful in the future to have this information.
